NBA Finals

The Miami heat are the NBA Champions, and Lebron James finally has his elusive title. The Heat dominated Game 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106 to take the second championship in franchise history. James was named the fianls MVP, and he capped it off with a triple double 26 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists.

James says it was a dream come true and it was the best day of his life.

Miami became the third team to sweep the middle three games at home in the 2-3-2 format. The Detroit Pistons took all three from the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004 before the Heat did it against Dallas in 2006.

NHL

The Entry Draft starts today in Pittsburgh. The Edmonton Oilers hold the first overall pick in the draft and are expected to select Sarnia Sting forward Nail Yakupov with the top pick.

Thamesville native, 18-year-old Dane is expected to be picked sometime tomorrow during the next six rounds. The Erie Otter is ranked 46th among North American skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.

Reports say Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jordan Staal has turned down a 10-year contract extension from the club.The reports say he isnt looking at signing an extension now.

The Wallaceburg Red Devils will be facing Spartan in the first round of the playoffs. Wallaceburg has a home game scheduled for this Saturday at Memorial Arena. Game time is at 8 p.m.
