It’s do or die tonight for the Wallaceburg Red Devils! After falling 8-7 Saturday, the Red Devils knotted their best of five series at 2-2 with a big 14-4 home win Sunday afternoon against the Spartans. The win sets up a fifth and deciding game tonight in St. Catherines. Wallaceburg will need to win their first game of the series on the road if they hope to advance to the second round of the OLA Junior B playoffs.

NHL

NHL Free Agency didn’t last long for former Wallaceburg Lakers player Brad Staubitz Sunday as he was scooped up in the first day of signings. Staubitz signed a two year contract with the Anaheim Ducks Sunday after splitting last season between the Montreal Canadiens and the Minnesota Wild. He had 1 goal and 121 penalty minutes in 62 games last season with the teams. Staubitz played for the Wallaceburg Lakers in 2000-2001

Former Detroit Red Wing Jiri Hudler has landed with the Calgary Flames. The 28-year-old centre signed a $16-million, four-year deal with Calgary on the second day of NHL free agency.

The Montreal Canadiens have locked up goaltender Carey Price for the next six years.

The Winnipeg Jets have signed former Calgary Flames forward Olli Jokinen to a two-year deal worth $9 million…

Alexander Radulov is headed back to Russia, according to reports. Radulov reportedly inked a four-year deal with CSKA Moscow of the KHL that will pay him $9.2 million per year.

Mike Moustakas had five RBIs and his first career grand slam and Everett Teaford pitched seven strong innings as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 11-3 on Monday

Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano has asked Jose Bautista, Prince Fielder and Mark Trumbo to join him on the AL side for the All-Star home run derby. Cano announced the invitations Monday, a day after rosters were announced for the All-Star game July 10 in Kansas City. Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp said Sunday he invited Carlos Beltran, Carlos Gonzalez and Giancarlo Stanton to join him on the NL side.

Tennis

Number one seeded Maria Sharapova was ousted from the tourney yesterday, while Serena Williams advanced, on the men’s side. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both advanced to the quarter finals.

NBA

Report say the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets have agreed to a deal that would send sharp-shooter Joe Johnson to the Nets… however it is dpening if Deron Williams re-signs with the new-look nets.
