JRC Hockey

The Wallaceburg Lakers bench will have a new look starting tonight. Paul Grealis announced he is stepping down as head coach of the club, and will be replaced by Chris Jacobs. The Chris Jacobs-led Lakers will take to the ice tonight, as Wallaceburg heads up to Alvinston. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

The Dresden Kings are in action as well, as they welcome Belle River to D-Town. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.


The Leamington Flyers topped St. Mary’s 2-1.

Lasalle doubled up Sarnia 4-2.


Barrie beat WIndsor 4-2.

High school boys hockey

The Wallaceburg Tartans got off to a great start to the season beating UCC 3-1. Nic Howlett led the way with two goals, while Evan Gihuly chipped in with a goal as well. Lucas Allear, Jordan Durston and Brad Maxim all had assists in the win.

The C-K Golden Hawks beat the L-K Cardinals 8-2. Cole McDonald and Kevin Ritzer scored the Cards goals.


After two days of talks with federal mediation. The League and Players are considering having the leaders of both sides step aside for a round of bargaining. The Players are bringing this to the committee for consideration today.

In the junior ranks

The L-K Cardinals topped the Tilbury Titans 47-39.

In senior

Tilbury beat L-K 31-26. Frankie Friesen led the Titans with 18 points while Tyler Leverton chipped in with 6 points.

Blenheim topped Pain Court 41-24. Cam Aitken led the Cats with 16 points, while Jared Hansen had 10. Adam Formosa had 7 points to lead the Patriotes, Nick Belanger had 6 in a losing effort.


The Atlanta Falcon picked off five of Drew Brees’ passes en-route to a 23-13 win over the New Oreleans Saints. Brees had his NFL-record touchdown streak snapped in the loss. Brees had thrown a touchdown pass in 54 consecutive games.
