World Junior Hockey

USA 1 vs 2 Canada – Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Ryan Strome scored for Team Canada. Malcolm Subban made 36 saves for the Canadians.

Canada and Russia will face off against each other this morning at 9 a.m. to determine first place in their pool.


The Blenheim Blades beat the Mooretown Flags 2-1.

Essex trounced Alvinston 7-2.


The Chatham Maroons were represented well at yesterdays All-Star Game in Kitchener.

Defenceman Jake Flegel scored and Sean Myers had two assists in the game. Michael Verboom had a goal and three assists in the prospects game.

No local action in the O last night.

Tonight, Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith and the London Knights are up Highway 40 in Sarnia to face the Sting.

Thamesville’s Dane Fox and the Erie Otters are heading to Niagara.

And Windsor is playing host to Plymouth.

The Wallaceburg Tyke White team traveled to West Lorne on Saturday and they came back with a 6-0 victory. The player of the game Brayden Sands.


The NHL Players’ Association will meet with the League today. After spending most of the weekend reading through the league’s 288-page proposal. The lock-out enters Day 106 today.
