Dresden was swept out of the playoffs last night, as the Essex 73s topped the Kings 6-5 in OT. After being down 3-1 early, the Kings stormed back to grab a 5-3 lead at one point. However the 73s kept chipping away, as Scott Bromley tied the game with a minute left in regulation. he added the winner at the 1:59 mark of OT.
Head coach Mark Swayze says it was a heart-breaking loss, but he’s proud of the team and commends the Essex squad for a great series as well. Jesse Allen had a goal and two assists for Dresden, Josh Beatty had a goal and an assist while Jeff Vanrabaeys had three helpers.

The Belle River Canadiens and Wheatley Sharks square off tonight in Wheatley. The Sharks lead their series 2-1.
The first-place Chatham Maroons wrapped up the regular season with a 6-4 win over Lasalle.
St. Thomas beat London 3-1.
London beat Saginaw 3-2.
Windsor beat Plymouth 6-5.
Phoenix 4 at 5 Calgary – TJ Brodie was scoreless in 14 minutes of ice time.

Jimmie Johnson has won his second Daytona 500, racing past defending NASCAR champion Brad Keselowski on the final restart, while Danica Patrick finished eighth and became the first woman in history to lead laps in the Daytona 500.
