Figure skating

Canada’s Patrick Chan began his charge for his third consecutive world title with a victory in the short program and a world-record score. The 22-year-old from Toronto, earned 98.37 points for his performance. The championship is being held at Budweiser Gardens just up the 401 in London.


The next round of the playoffs gets under way tonight for the Chatham Maroons, as they host the Strathroy Rockets in Game 1. Puck drops at 7 p.m. Tune in to 99.1 as they will be broadcasting the game LIVE.


The London Knights topped the Erie Otters 3-1. Bo Horvat of Rodney scored a goal, while Thamesville’s Dane Fox was held off the score sheet.


Detroit 2 at 5 Calgary – TJ Brodie was held off the score sheet, but he was plus 2 in 21 minutes of ice time. Niklas Kronwall, Valtteri Filppula scored the Wings goals.

NFL free agency

The Detroit Lions addressed the running back position on Wednesday by agreeing on four-year pact with free agent Reggie Bush.

The Denver Broncos have found a new target for Peyton Manning, agreeing to a two-year deal with Pro Bowl receiver Wes Welker.

Free agent safety Dashon Goldson signed a $41.25 million, five-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
