JRB Hockey Playoffs

The Strathroy Rockets drew first blood in their series with the top ranked Chatham Maroons winning 3-2. Brett Dalton scored the winner with 43 seconds left in regulation. Michael Verboom scored s shorthanded goal for Chatham, and he added an assist on a goal by Brennan Feasey. Game 2 is set for tomorrow in Strathroy, tune in the 99.1 we will be broadcasting the game LIVE.

In other JRB action, the London Nationals topped the Leamington Flyers in Game 1 of their series 6-2.


Saginaw beat Sarnia 3-2 in OT.

And Owen Sound blanked Windsor 6-0.


Pittsburgh 3 at 1 Toronto – Pascal Dupuis netted a pair to lead the Pens. Tyler Bozak scored the lone Leafs goal.

The League’s Board of Governors approved the proposed realignment for the league.. which will go into effect next season. The Leafs and Wings will be in the same division… while changes are coming to the 16-team playoff format. The top three teams in each division will qualify for the post-season. The next two teams with the best records in each conference will now earn wild-card berths.

And tough news for Lightning fans. Vincent Lecavalier was placed on injured reserve on Thursday with an undisclosed lower body injury. Lecavalier is expected to be out of action for three weeks.

Dominican Republic beat the United States 3-1 last night to earn a berth in the final round of the World Baseball Classic. The United States must now face Puerto Rico tonight with the winner earning a trip to San Francisco and the loser being eliminated.
