Verboom’s hat trick Helps Maroons Eliminate Lambton Shores

Michael Verboom netted a hat trick to lead the Chatham Maroons over the Lambton Shores Predators, 6-4.

Verboom notched his first tally 9:39 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:09 into the second and at 19:15 into the third.
The win by Chatham clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Maroons’ offense rang up 31 shots on Lambton Shores’ net.

Chatham also got points from Trevor Richardson, who also had two goals and one assist. Sean Myers also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Brennan Feasey, who had four and Jake Flegel and Blake Blondeel, who contributed one a piece.

The Predators were helped by Matteo Ciccarelli, who racked up two goals. Ciccarelli scored the first of his two goals at 9:20 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lambton Shores. Connor Annett provided the assist. Ciccarelli’s next tally made the score 3-2 Lambton Shores with 7:56 left in the second period. Lambton Shores had gained a power play chance when Ben Pataki was whistled for tripping. Ryan Rontondi picked up the assist. Lambton Shores additionally got points from Kyle Brothers, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Adam Arseneault, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Brett Thompson, Kyler Keating, and Tanner Ferguson, who each chipped in one.

Darien Ekblad made 26 saves for Chatham on 30 shots. The Maroons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brandon Campbell rejected 25 shots on goal for the Predators. Lambton Shores totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Predators, Rontondi was ejected from the game.
