The Lambton Shores Predators are finding themselves in a familiar place in the GOJHL’s Western Conference, fighting for a playoff spot.

The Predators, currently hold the 8th and final playoff spot, but are only two points ahead of the St. Marys Lincolns.

Currently, Muirkirk’s Steven Beenackers, a former Chatham Maroons and Chatham-Kent Cyclones forward, is the Predators’ leading scorer. Beenackers, who is in his second season of GOJHL action, is scoring at more than a point per game pace, notching 8 goals and 27 assists through 34 games.

He was selected to represent the Lambton Shores Predators over the holiday at the GOJHL’s annual Top Prospects Game.

Matt Kenney, who started the season with the Chatham Maroons, has seen a rejuvenation since joining the Predators earlier this year. Kenney, who also played minor hockey in Chatham growing up, is third on the Predators in scoring, collecting 16 points in 16 games with the team, and 22 points in total this season.

The Predators also feature Chatham’s Jay Ritchie, Wheatley’s Ty Jackson, and Ridgetown’s Bryan Boersma.

Also, earlier in the week, the Predators signed Ryan Gruszka, who was leading the Wallaceburg Lakers in scoring. Gruszka picked up his first Junior B point, an assist, Wednesday in a loss to LaSalle.

Lambton Shores lost four games in a six day span from Friday through Wednesday this past week.

Lambton Shores travels to London next Wednesday. They will be in Chatham Sunday, January 19 to face the Maroons.
