Blenheim Novice Reps Advance To OMHA Finals

Blenheim-District-Minor-Hockey-Association-LogoThe Blenheim Novice Reps have advanced to the OMHA Finals to play the winner of Twin Centre and West Lincoln.

Blenheim last made the OMHA Finals 2 years ago with the Bantam and Midgets. This is the first Blenheim Novice Team to make the OMHA Finals since the last Blenheim & District Minor Hockey Association Championship in 2002, which was won by a Novice team that consisted of players currently playing on the Blenheim Blades; Jarrod Oliphant, Dylan Vanderpol, and Dylan Bonner, as well as Kyle Hope who plays for the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack.

The Blenheim Reps advanced to the final by defeated the Ilderton Jets in three games.

Game one of the series saw Blenheim walk away with a 5-3 win. Braydon Segeren scored twice, as did Brayden Degelas who also added an assist. David Brown rounded out the scoring picking up a goal and an assist.

In game two, Blenheim won by an identical 5-3 score. Brown had five points in the win, scoring a hat trick and adding two assists. Segeren scored once, and added three assists, while Degelas had the other Blenheim goal. Colby Caughy played set up man in the game, dishing out two assists.

Brayden Degelas exploded offensively in the third game of Blenheim’s series, helping his team polish off the series sweep of Ilderton by scoring five goals, and adding an assist in Blenheim’s 8-4 victory.

Also chipping in offensively for Blenheim in the clinching game was Brown, who had two goals and an assist, Sam Warriner who had a goal an an assist, and Cam Wellington and Segeren, who each chipped in with two assists.

With the Twin Cities and West Lincoln series still underway, Blenheim is expected to start their OMHA final after March Break.
