MaineBlackBearsLogoBlenheim’s Brady Campbell received an honour from the University of Maine this week, as he was named a “Rising Star” Scholar-Athlete in his freshman season.

“Recognizing over half of our student-athlete as scholar-athletes is an impressive accomplishment,” said director of athletics Karlton Creech about the ceremony in a news release. “This group exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete, excelling in both the classroom and in their sport. I congratulate them on this outstanding achievement.”

Campbell, a former Blenheim Blades and Elmira Sugar Kings sniper, who was named an OHA Top Prospect last season, received the honour after achieving more than a 3.0 GPA in his first semester at Maine.

Studying Finance at the University of Maine, Campbell earned his first point of the season with the Maine Black Bears Men’s hockey team February 21 in a 4-4 tie against Northeastern.

Campbell and Maine finish out their 2013-2014 regular season March 1 against Providence.
