It looked like a game bound for overtime, tied midway through the third. The Chatham Maroons however, would not be denied series sweep over the LaSalle Vipers, as they exploded late in the third to clinch the series with a 7-3 win in game four.

Four different Maroons had mult-point games, led by Chatham captain Michael Verboom who scored two goals in the win. Verboom opened the scoring for Chatham to knot the game at 1-1 in the first, and then scored a dagger late in the game, sliding the puck into the empty frame on a cross ice feed from Adam Arseneault.

Arseneault also had a goal and an assist, scoring a goal late in the third on a power forward play in the slot, sliding the puck past LaSalle goalie Cameron Zanussi on the backhand.

Jared Dennis, Charlie Izaguirre, and Mark Fratarcangelli each had a goal and an assist in the win, while Hayden Verbeek had the other Chatham goal. Verbeek was handed MVP honours for his game winning goal which saw him slip by the LaSalle defense, and slide a shot five hold on Zanussi.

The real star of the game however, was Chatham netminder Jacob Keogh. Keogh time and again made point blank saves to keep the Maroons in the game.

Chatham was again without top scorer Kyle Brothers, who continues to heal after suffering an undisclosed upper body injury earlier in the series.

Chatham will now wait to learn who they’ll face in the GOJHL Western Conference final as the Leamington Flyers and London Nationals finish their series this week.
