Tuesday at the St. Clair Health Plex in Chatham, the Kent Senior Badminton finals were held, with champions from four different Chatham-Kent high schools being crowned.

Andre Pinsonneault of Pain Court won his second straight Boys Singles title, defeating Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s Christian Bechard in straight games.

In girls singles, UCC’s Sheridan Rodgers captured the Kent title, beating Alyson Bierling, who attends Chatham Christian.

Taking the boys doubles title was Brad Hockin and Rick An from CKSS. After each playing singles last year, the duo came together and grabbed the doubles crown. They needed three games to edge Chatham Christian’s Cam Koomans and Peter Sung.

In girls doubles, John McGregor’s Bridget Carleton and Ashley Herfst beat Pain Court’s Madeleine Myers and Danielle Lucier.

Finally, Alec Hoy and Michelle Truong Ursuline College beat CKSS’ Lee Kucera and Julie Earle in the mixed doubles final. Kucera and Earle were last year’s Junior SWOSSAA champions.

The UCC Lancers took the overall team title.
