Is the female athlete of the year only open to girls still in high school? What about our girls playing at university or college level on this list?

    • comment-avatar

No definitely open to all age groups. Breanne Nicholas, Bailey Walker, Sydnee Nolan, and Ashley Goure are all in the University age bracket.

Last year we had several University athletes, such as York’s Shauney Fischer, involved in the voting.

What an honour to be nominated on the list. Good luck, Bee, with your 2016 quest to represent Canada in Rio. Your hard work is paying off. One thing is for certain: All of the athletes nominated realize that hard work, incredible sacrifices and support are required for success.

Being a longtime rugby player and father to another candidate I am incredibly proud of all 3 girls in the rugby field of vote. I must say though Brianne is without question a superior athlete and has a god given talent that can not be coached. I am a rugby fan and cheer on syd and queens first and foremost but always cheer on Brianne because she is magical
