The Canadian Tire store in Wallaceburg is now offering skate sharpening, but they’re also offering a helping hand to the local Minor Hockey community in the process.

Wallaceburg’s Canadian Tire store announced they’ll be donating all proceeds from their skate sharpening from now until February 28 in honour of a Wallaceburg legend, Frank Dymock, to the annual Frank Dymock Tournament, which is hosted by the Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association.

“When I contacted Peter I asked if they were interested in being involved and once I explained what the tournament was about and who Frank Dymock was he knew what he wanted to do,” says tournament organizer Tom Cogghe of Canadian Tire owner Peter Marshall. ” They just installed their new sharpener and offered to donate all proceeds until the end of February to Wallaceburg Minor Hockey in Frank Dymock’s name.”

Each sharpening costs $4.99, all of which will go to supporting the local tournament, which was named in honour of Frank Dymock, who passed away in 2013.

Dymock offered free skate sharpening, and repaired and donated free skates to Wallaceburg youth out his garage for five decades, making a donation from skate sharpening fitting for the event.

The Frank Dymock Classic tournament will be held February 13-15 in Wallaceburg.
