Tennis Titles For LKSSAA Doubles Teams

At the LKSSAA Tennis Championships in Sarnia Wednesday, the CKSS Golden Hawks and John McGregor Panthers each won division titles.

CKSS’ Josh Ashby and Evan Thibert defeated Connor Boyd and Jakob Wagner of UCC 8-0 to win the Boys Doubles crown. UCC’s Alex Bernardi and Tyler Torrieri defeated Priyank Patel and Ayush Namboothiri 8-0 for third.

In Mixed Doubles, John McGregor’s Darby Barnard and Nick Van Der Paelt defeated Keli Grant and Raj Dighe of Northern 8-5 to finish 1st. JMSS’ Rachel Carleton and Josh Kewley defeated Renae Nevills and Cole McGregor of 8-7 to finish 3rd.

Northern’s Andrew Davies (Boys Singles), St. Patrick’s Elise McInnis (Girls Singles), and St. Patrick’s Catherine Rastin and Clara Rastin (Girls Doubles) also won titles on Wednesday.

Overall, the Northern Vikings won the team title, edging the John McGregor Panthers by three points.

The top four competitors in each division qualify for SWOSSAA October 22 in Windsor.

Other local athletes qualifying for SWOSSAA include Ridgetown’s Pauline Borremans (2nd, Girls Singles), JMSS’ Ceara Travis (4th, Girls Singles), JMSS’ Taylor Kewley and Alison Rae (2nd, Girls Doubles), and Laren Broeders and Sydney Sabourin (4th, Girls Doubles).
