Chatham’s Quinn Cannella will go the distance next season to run for the Ole Miss Rebels.

Cannella, who has multiple LKSSAA, SWOSSAA, and OFSAA medals to his resume representing Chatham-Kent Secondary School, including winning the LKSSAA 3000m race Wednesday only hours after his signing, says he’s excited to run at the historic University of Mississippi.

“Ole Miss is the perfect fit for me,” said Cannella. “I have the opportunity to train with some of the best athletes in the country and be under the guidance of one of the best coaches in the country. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to look up to all the great athletes currently on the team. My goal is to continue the tradition of success at Ole Miss and to achieve great things with a great team.”

A member of the Windsor Legion Track team, and a National Champion with Windsor’s cross country team, Cannella, who is committed to both Ole Miss’ cross country, and indoor and outdoor track and field teams, says running at the NCAA level is the fulfillment of a dream.

“I have always seen athletes from my track club and around Canada having success in the NCAA. It has always been a dream of mine to compete for a D1 school. Now that I have the opportunity to do so really is a dream come true,” explained Cannella. “I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity and cannot wait to see what level I can reach in the sport. I know that at Ole Miss I will receive the top level resources I need to reach my full potential and it is exciting to think about what can be accomplished.”

Cannella will be studying Pre Pharmacy, being accepted into the Early Entry Pharmacy Program, which gives high school students direct entry to the Pharmacy graduate program after completing the 3 years of Pre Pharmacy.
