Wallaceburg’s Jonah Pataki was one of only five players selected to participate in the CFL Combine later this month from the Ontario Regional Combine.

He was selected from 42 prospects in Ontario based on his performance at the Regional Combine, to travel to Regina, Saskatchewan March 24. The final roster for the National CFL Combine will have 45 participants.

“I’m just excited. This was the goal the whole time, to come out here and prove myself,” said Pataki on CFL.ca about being selected for the National Combine.

Pataki, who competed for Queens as a running back, registered the second-fastest shuttle time (4.23 seconds), second-highest vertical (36 inches) and fifth-fastest 40-yard dash time, at 4.84 seconds.

In 2016 with the Queens Gaels, Pataki averaged 101.8 rushing yards per game, carrying for 814 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Also advancing from the Ontario Regional Combine were Adam Adeboboye, Richard Gillespie, Jordan Hoover, and Mark Mackie.

Chatham’s Clark Green also attended the Ontario Regional Combine, but was not selected to advance.

The 2016 Canadian Football League draft will take place May 7.
