Pickleball For Hospice This Weekend


The Chatham-Kent Pickleball Club and Thames Campus HealthPlex are hosting their first Pickleball for Hospice in support of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

Tournament check and warm up starts Friday at 6 pm with games until 9 pm at St. Clair College, Thames Campus, 1001 Grand Ave. W., Chatham.

Tournament play resumes Saturday morning at 9 am with Celebrity Pickleball scheduled for 12:30 pm.

Event complete by 4 pm.

The friendly tournament has 55 players from across Southwestern Ontario and is for beginner, intermediate and advanced players.

Spectators are welcome to attend for no charge and see what pickleball is all about.

The tournament is held as part of Hospice Weekend in conjunction with Hike for Hospice on Sunday, April 23 and on Sunday at Hike for Hospice Victory Lincoln will also be on-site that day with their Lincoln Driven to Give event. For every test drive, Lincoln will donate $50 to Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

The event is open to the public.

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation is responsible for the fundraising activities needed to support Chatham-Kent Hospice. Our Mission is to enhance the financial sustainability of the Chatham-Kent Hospice by working with the community to raise funds, awareness and understanding to enable compassionate, quality near end-of-life experiences for the residents of Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Hospice is a 10-bed residential facility that offers care for residents facing end of life and support for their loved ones. The hospice provides comfort, support and specialized pain and symptom management in a home-like setting. Around the clock care is provided by dedicated physicians, nurses, personal support workers and volunteers. Chatham-Kent Hospice relies on donations from our community in order to offer our services at no cost to the resident or their family. Support is received through direct donations, memorial donations and other fundraising revenue.

The Chatham-Kent Pickleball Club was organized in July 2017 and now has 140+ members playing pickleball indoors and out 7 days a week, 12 months of the year at various locations in Chatham-Kent. We welcome new players and offer lessons, league, tournaments and drop in fun play!
