The Chatham-Kent Novice boys Wildcats ended their successful season last weekend finishing with a Silver Medal at the Division 3 OBA Provincial tournament. Placing them 18th in the province out of 76 teams.

Game 1 against a strong Woodbridge team, Chatham won 41-28. Adam Vsetula led the team with 11 points and 9 rebounds Caleb Roberts added 10 to go along with 9 rebounds and CJ Roberts added 6 points with 4 rebounds.

The Wildcats continued game 2 with an amazing defensive game winning 47-26 against the Durham City Bulldogs. Caleb Roberts with 24 points and 15 rebounds, CJ Roberts adding 8 and Adam Vsetula 6.

The Wildcats went on to win their final pool play game against the Durham Gladitors 49-41. Caleb Roberts led the way for the third consecutive game with 26 and Vsetula had 11. Cristian Suffi dominated the boards with 10 rebounds.

In the final, Chatham-Kent played the Ottawa Shooting Stars. Down 20-21 at half they knew it was going to be a close game. The Wildcats battled hard but lost in the end 50-42. Caleb Roberts finished with 15 points, Vsetula added 10, and Jaxen Baker 5.

The Wildcats’ defense was great all weekend with the Hadden Twins Tayshawn and Tezmond averaging 3 steals per game. The boys end their season 30-3, Coaches Steve Bird and Max Allin are extremely proud of the team and the improvement of their new players who were playing on a basketball team for the first time.
