Wallaceburg Hall of Fame Announces Annual Honourees

The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame will honour their 2018 entry group January 27 at the annual awards and induction ceremony.

Shauney Fischer, who just finished her final OUA basketball season with the York University Lions will be recognized as Wallaceburg’s Athlete of the Year.

Sombra’s Chloe Duffy, who represented Canada, winning a bronze medal in equestrian this year at the North American Championships, will be given the Outstanding Achievement Award.

In the builder category, Ben Hazzard will be recognized for his contributions in planning and founding the St. Clair River Run, which has grown into one of the regions largest and most successful races.

Jeff Byrne will be honoured as Coach of the Year, for his contributions with the Wallaceburg Airhawks basketball program.

Finally, the Ray Aarssen Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship award, given annually to a graduated WDSS student, will be given to Shaelyn Denys.
