Maroons Commit To Jack Zekelman

The Chatham Maroons have committed to 2001 birth year defenseman, Jack Zekelman.

Zekelman is from Tecumseh, Ontario and played his 2017-2018 season with the Windsor AAA Zone Major Midget Team, serving as an Assistant Captain, while also APing with the Chatham Maroons.

“Jack is someone we targeted right away as his poise and patience with the puck in high pressure situations to make the first pass is impressive,” said Maroons head coach Kyle Makaric in a team news release. “Jack has the ability to defend well and jump into the play offensively which will be a huge addition to the Maroons Organization.”

Zekelman led all defensemen in points on his Major Midget Team during the regular season, registering 2 goals and 18 assists for 20 points in 30 games, and was selected in the 3rd round, 41st overall in the U18 OHL Priority Selection by the Sudbury Wolves.

In addition, he co-led the way in their playoff run, totalling 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points in 12 games.
