Local Runners Qualify For OFSAA

Several local cross country runners have qualified for the OFSAA cross country championships at Christie Lake Conservation Area, in Dundas, Ontario on November 3.

Emma Pegg won the Junior Girls 5km race finishing in 19:12. Her Junior girls team of Gigi Sasseville (3rd), Alyssa Robinson (7th), and Blair Purcell (23rd) won the Junior girls division, qualifying for OFSAA as a team.

In the midget girls’ 4km race, Wallaceburg’s Talia Vancoillie finished second with a time of 17:24. Blenheim’s Rylee Stanford was 5th. UCC’s Sydney Sheepy was 7th, but did not qualify for OFSAA as only the top two teams, and top five runners not on those teams advance.

In the senior girls’ race, Payton Sabourin finished 3rd to qualify for OFSAA, while UCC’s Brooke MacLeod was 4th, also advancing.

Finally, in senior boys, Adrian Stubberfield of Chatham advanced to OFSAA after finishing 9th.
