Alec McGregor of Chatham will play for the University of Toronto next season

Alec McGregor of Chatham has chosen his athletic and academic path for next season, committing to the University of Toronto men’s basketball team.

“Toronto seems like a great fit for me,” said McGregor of his choice of schools. “School comes first so their business school stood out, I love the coach, I’ll fit in well with the team, and I love being in the big city.

McGregor will be studying at Toronto’s Rotman Commerce Business Program.

The 2018 male recipient of the Dr. Jack Parry Award winner as Chatham-Kent’s top student-athlete, McGregor currently plays for and attends Southwest Academy in London, a basketball prep program.

For McGregor, he’s excited to play at the next level, but wants to do more than play when he arrives at Toronto, he wants to make an immediate impact with the Varsity Blues.

“It feels great, it’s been a goal of mine (to play University basketball) ever since I was little. But now that I’ve made it there I want to push the ceiling and try to be a star player.”
