“That was a crazy run!”

Those were Lucas Vanroboys first words when asked about his experience with the BCHL’s Prince George Spruce Kings this season.

A run which ended with a Fred Page Cup as the BCHL champions, and a Doyle Cup, after beating the AJHL champion Brooks Bandits, the same team who beat them 4-3 in the Royal Bank Cup National final.

“Almost three months of playoff hockey comes to an end one win short of a National Championship,” said Vanroboys reflecting on the year.

Vanroboys joined Prince George midseason after a trade from the Cowichan Valley Capitals. He had 23 points in 43 games this season, and added 11 in 23 playoff games before the National Championships.

“You can’t win without a tight group of guys and this might be the closest team I’ve ever played on. Of course it’s not the outcome we wanted but thankful for the opportunity to win what we did and give Prince George something to talk about for a long time.”

I still have 1 more year and as of commitments I’m talking to a few and trying to find one that is right for me as I’m not looking to rush any decision
