Fryer Stands Tall As Toronto Advances To Face Ryerson

Former Chatham Outlaws netminder Erica Fryer had to play extra time in both of the University of Toronto’s opening playoff games, helping the Varsity Blues advance.

Fryer stopped 29 shots in a 3-2 overtime win and 26 shots in a 2-1 overtime win to eliminate Guelph and advance to round two of the McCaw Cup playoffs.

Ryerson University, which features Dresden’s Lauren Nicholson and Blenheim’s Madison Lalonde also swept their opening round playoff series 2-0 against the Brock Badgers to advance. Nicholson finished the series with an assist.

Thamesville’s Katreena Whiteye plays for Brock.

Ryerson and Toronto will now face off in the OUA Semi-Finals. They open their series Wednesday.
