Six Chatham-Kent Athletes To Square Off In OCAA Women’s Basketball Final

Six Chatham-Kent basketball products will square off in Sunday’s OCAA women’s basketball final between the St. Clair Saints and the Fanshawe Falcons.

On the St. Clair College side, Chatham sisters Jana Kucera and Logan Kucera will look to drive their team on both sides of the ball as they have all season.

Logan Kucera was named a first team OCAA West All-Star this season, and Jana Kucera was named a second team OCAA West All-Star.

In their OCAA semi-final, a 66-65 win over Humber, the twins combined for 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Also on St. Clair is Wallaceburg basketball product Meghan Zelina.

On the Fanshawe College side of the ball, Chatham’s Jessica Jordan, Wallaceburg’s Ashleigh LaBlance, and Walpole Island’s Legacie Blackbird will go for gold.

Jordan was on Fanshawe’s OCAA championship team last year. In the semi-final, an 83-73 win over Algonquin, Jordan had 7-points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. LaBlance played 22-minutes, scoring 2-points, while Blackbird didn’t hit the scoresheet.

The OCAA gold medal game is at 3:30pm.
