Blenheim Blades Fall Two Games Behind Wallaceburg Lakers in Opening Round

Blenheim, ON – The Wallaceburg Lakers continued to punish the Blenheim Blades beating the Blades 5-1 on the road in game two of their best of seven series. In the opening game of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League Playoffs, Wallaceburg thumped Blenheim 7-1.

It wasn’t a complete runaway however, as the Blades held much of the play in the Wallaceburg end and outshot the Lakers 36-29. Wallaceburg was able to jump ahead by capitalizing with the man advantage going 3 for 5 on the powerplay.

Brendon Merritt opened the scoring for Wallaceburg and added two assists later in the game. Other Wallaceburg goal scorers were Tyler Lewis, Tyson Isaac, Tyler Billins, and Shawn Lubbers. Taylor Phillips scored the only goal for Blenheim nearing the end of the second period. Game 3 takes place Wednesday night in Wallaceburg at 7:30pm.
