For the second straight week, the Chatham Diamonds Major Peewee baseball team proved they are a cut above their opponents. After winning their home tournament last weekend, the Diamonds won gold at Tecumseh’s annual tournament, defeating the host team 11-1 in the final.

Chatham opened the tournament with a rain shortened win over the Windsor Selects Minor Peewee AAA team, shutting out their opponent 2-0 behind the solid pitching of Evan Rogers. Connor Goldsmith and Spencer Marcus both went 2-for-3 at the plate in the win.

After a strong opening performance, Chatham dropped a difficult game to the Mississauga North Bengals AA team, 5-4. Goldsmith hit two doubles, bringing in three runs for the Diamonds.

Game three of the tournament was a 6-2 win for the Chatham Diamonds Major Peewee team. Facing the Tecumseh Rangers, the Diamonds relied on a balanced attack from the plate, with Goldsmith, Marcus, Grant Spence, and Caden Basso all contributing offensively.

Facing Walker Homesites in the fourth game of the tournament, Ethan Paxton had two hits and three RBIs, leading the Diamonds to a 5-2 win, which sent the team to the championship game.

In the final, facing Tecumseh, it only took the Chatham Diamonds five innings to mercy their opponent 11-1. Grant Spence, Spencer Marcus, Colton Shoemaker, Ethan Paxton, and Ethan Lutz all had multi-hit games, while Connor Goldsmith hit a 265 foot solo homerun over the centre field fence following two intentional walks to the slugger.
