In front of more than 1,500 fans at Memorial Arena in Chatham, the Chatham Maroons evened their best-of-seven Western Conference series against the Leamington Flyers at 1-1 Friday night.

Chatham was able to hold on despite Leamington pressuring late, for a 3-2 win Friday.

Adam Arseneault got things going in the first period, scoring a shorthanded goal with Michael Verboom and Tanner Ferguson. Minutes later on the powerplay, roles were reversed as Ferguson scored, with Arseneault and Verboom assisting.

In the second period, Nathan Opblinger got Leamington on the board, before a familiar face to the Flyers stuck a dagger in their comeback hopes. Jared Dennis who was acquired by the Chatham Maroons midseason from the Flyers scored, with Verboom picking up his third assist of the game, and Kyle Brothers chipping in, to make it 3-1.

Alex Seguin scored for Leamington in the third to make it 3-2, but the Chatham Maroons and goalie Jacob Keogh would hold off Leamington for the win.

Chatham will travel to Leamington for game three Sunday, with puck drop at 4:10pm, before the series returns to Chatham Tuesday at 7pm.
