Over generations, hockey organizations are defined by the “faces” of their teams. Players like Bobby Orr with the Boston Bruins, and Gordie Howe or Ted Lindsay with the Detroit Red Wings.

This Sunday, the Chatham Maroons and Chatham Maroons Alumni, will be defining their own history, by inducting George Aitken and Copper Leyte to their “Faces of the Maroons.”

The ceremony, which will take place prior to their game Sunday, October 19 against the LaSalle Vipers, will honour George Aitken and Copper Leyte as players who showed a high level of skill, gave back in some way to the Maroons organization, and were contributors to the Chatham-Kent community.

George Aitken and Copper Leyte both were Senior Maroons, playing on Chatham’s Allan Cup Championship team. As well, both coached the Maroons and both were involved in their community by coaching kids and contributing to such things as their churches.

Game time Sunday is 7pm at Memorial Arena in Chatham, Ontario.
