The Chatham Maroons have been returned a veteran presence in net as netminder Brendan Johnston rejoined his former team this weekend.

A 5th round pick of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires in 2013, Johnston, a Port Lambton resident, played 37 games in the OHL last season collecting a 4.71 GAA, a .871 save percentage, and a 12-16-2-2 record.

The year prior to played for the Chatham Maroons as a 16-year-old appearing in 20 games, finishing with a 3.58 GAA and .878 save percentage.

The Maroons started the 2015-2016 season without a veteran netminder in net rolling with Parker Butler and Colin Lauzon through the first 7 games.

Johnston suffered a preseason concussion with the Spitfires this year but was made expendable by the team when they acquired overage netminder Michael Giugovaz.

Johnston is a product of the Chatham-Kent Cyclones ‘AAA’ program, and a graduate of Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
