Four Podium Finishes For Taekwondo Athletes

Four local youth athletes reached the podium recently at a taekwondo competition in Michigan – Contributed Photo

Cobra’s Taekwondo Training Centre had 4 youth athletes compete at a local tournament in Okemos, Michigan on October 17 at the Chippewa Middle School.

These young athletes of PCT – Sport Taekwondo Team (Chatham branch) were the only athletes representing Canada at the event. All four athletes made the podium.

Jayson Reno (8 years old) won Gold in the 8-9 intermediate division (green belt to red stripe), Dominik Formosa (5 years old) Silver in the 6-7 beginners division (white belt to green stripe), Katy Kovar (8 years old) Bronze in 8-9 beginners divsion and Keegan Kovar, who just turned 10 years old competed in the 10-11 blackbelt fin weight division receiving bronze.

“These young athletes put their everything into this competitio,” said coach Ryan Formosa. “Not all wins but was definitely a positive step in development and enjoyed themselves in doing so.”
