Local Sports Briefs: February 1

CKXS-Morning-Sports-BriefsThe Jr C regular season wrapped up last night, Wheatley downed Amhurstburg 4-1, while Blenheim edged out Lakeshore 4-3.  The Jr C Playoffs start tomorrow night when The Dresden Jr Kings will face The Blenheim Blades, the Essex 73’s are taking on Alvinston in the other quarter final match-up.

The La Salle Vipers bit the Chatham Maroons last night in Jr B play,  5-4.   Sarnia edged out Strathroy 4-3

The Wallaceburg Tyke Green Team got the win over the Tyke White Team 9-6 in Minor hockey action.  Tonight the Novice Rep team will play the Mooretown Jr Flags

In the OHL yesterday, Trent Fox of Thamesville came up with 2 goals and an assist as the Hamilton Bulldogs won the dog fight against the Niagara Ice Dogs 5-2.  The Sarnia Sting shut out the Windsor Spitfires 9 nothing.  Jordan Kyrou with a pair and Travis Konecny of Clachan, hitting the twine as well. North Bay doubled up Sudbury 4-2, The Sault Greyhounds with a 6-3 win over the Kitchener Rangers.

The CK Wildcats Novice Boys basketball team picking up 2 wins over the weekend. The Wildcats downed Core City Windsor 34 -2, Caleb Roberts had 12 points and then they dumped the South Windsor Warriors 38-17.  Roberts had 19 points in that one as well.

The Dave Allin Memorial Basketball tournament over the weekend not only scored big with the players but raised over 17 thousand dollars for the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex.  Over 160 players were involved in the tournament.
