Blades Add Junior B Veteran Cunningham Prior To Deadline

With the January 10 OHA player deadline staring them in the face, the Blenheim Blades have added some veteran Junior ‘B’ experience by obtaining fourth-year forward Alex Cunningham from the Komoka Kings.

Cunningham, 19, hails from Chatham, and is the older brother or Matt Cunningham who has played seven games this season as an AP call-up for the Blades and has picked up four assists.

Cunningham, an assistant captain with the Kings this year, began his Junior ‘B’ career with the then Lambton Predators (now the Komoka Kings) in the 2015-16 season, and has played 120 games scoring eight goals and adding eight assists for 16 points to go with 119 penalty minutes.

He currently has one game to serve as part of a four game suspension and the Blades hope to have him in the lineup Friday when they visit the Dresden Kings at 7:30 p.m.
