The U10 Ringette Chatham Thunder went to Tillsonburg with the intention of winning the Gold medal for the Regional Ringette tournament. This is sort of a Cinderella story as they are a U9 team that was bumped up to U10 division in December because they were beating their competition by big scores and were not being challenged.

After a weekend of competition, the Chatham Thunder achieved what they set out to do, winning regional gold.

The first game was against Mitchell, another U9 team that was also bumped up, and Chatham came away with a 13-4 win.

In the next game, the Thunder played the U10 team from Tillsonburg and beat them 8-6 in a great game.

The team returned on Saturday to play Goderich U10 team only to get beat 14-8. The loss put Chatham in second place in the pool, meaning they had to go back on Sunday to play Goderich again for the championship.

It was a great game with Chatham jumping out to a 2 goal lead only to have Goderich come back and tie it at 3. With 4 minutes to go Chatham went ahead 4-3, but Goderich did not let up and scored with 17 seconds left in the game to send it to overtime 4-4. Chatham came out flying hoping to apply pressure and end it and scored at 1:37 of the overtime to bring the Gold home to Chatham.
