The UCC Lancers Junior girls rugby team defeated Sarnia St. Pats 41-7 to win the LKSSAA title.

Marissa Besselare and Bryn Larkin scored a pair of tries each, while Rosie Warner, Gillian Vickery and Bailey Thibert each had one. Thibert also kicked 3 coverts.

“This was a great match where the Ursuline Lancers played their first complete game on both the offensive and defensive side of the scrum,” said coach Jeff Phaneuf.

“The backs were loaded with rookie players which followed the leadership of the more experienced forwards. They set the tone of the a straight ahead smash mouth first half. This allowed the backs to play a speedy wide open game which allowed for our girls to experience a great victory.”

Maid of the Match was Victoria Armstrong.

The UCC Lancers senior girls advanced to the LKSSAA final this Friday after St. Pats forfeited today’s senior girls semi-final.
