Vanroboys Second At National Championships, Bandits Win

The Brooks Bandits won the National Junior A Hockey Championship Sunday, edging Thamesville’s Lucas Vanroboys and his Prince George Spruce Kings 4-3 in the final.

The Spruce Kings had defeated Brooks in the regional qualifier to advance to the National tournament.

Simon Boyko, a University of Vermont commit scored twice for Brooks who got out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Prince George would fight back, but could not complete the comeback.

Former Chatham Maroons forward Bobby Harrison plays for the Brooks Bandits, who were the AJHL champions, and host of the tournament.
