Santa came three days late, but he did deliver a nice present as the Wallaceburg Thunderhawks handed the Dresden Kings a 4-2 defeat.

This gives Wallaceburg four wins on the season and win number two for goaltender Nolan Hakr. Hakr came to the Thunderhawks on a trade from Lakeshore in November.

The Kings scored the first goal of the game when new addition Geoffrey Vandenboorn scored his second goal of the season. Vandenboorn has been with the Kings since 2016 but is away at school and had not planned on playing.

Wallaceburg tied the game up early in the second when Jake Vancoillie scored on the power play. Dresden regained the lead when Derek Shaw scored at 14:21. That concluded the scoring for the period, and both retired to their dressing
rooms.

Once again early in the period, Wallaceburg struck, and tied the game at 2-2 when Brody Fraleigh scored at 3:51. Three minutes later Josh Gibbs gave the Thunderhawks the lead for the first time of the game. Late in the game with the Kings goaltender pulled for the extra attacker, Gibbs fired the puck from his end, down the ice into the middle of the net at 19:05. This goal sealed the deal to give Wallaceburg another win.

The Thunderhawks had a lot of jump in their game tonight and used the small ice surface to apply pressure on the Kings, especially on the forecheck. Dresden pushed hard for goals, but when they did get shots on net, Hakr was superb.
