Brendan Seys Named GLIAC Golfer of the Year

Brendan Seys has been named the GLIAC Golfer of the Year. Seys, a Port Lambton resident and UCC Lancers alumni is a senior with the Wayne State University men’s golf program.

From the news release:

Seys is the fifth Warrior to earn the Player of the Year trophy and the first since Eric Johnson in 2012-13. He is a member of the All-GLIAC First Team for the third time and was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year, while earning a spot on the All-GLIAC Second Team in 2016-17. In addition, Seys was selected to the Division II GCAA/PING All-Region Team for the third time in his career.

Seys, a two-time GLIAC Player of the Week, was in the starting lineup for all six varsity tournaments and finished with a team-best stroke average of 70.5 over 14 total rounds. His low round was 66 (second lowest in program history) and he had four rounds in the 60s and eight rounds under par. Seys won the Findlay Doc Spragg Fall Invitational (9/23-24) with a 209 (69, 69, 71) and the 54-hole total of 209 is a program record for three rounds. He was the top individual at the WSU HawksHead Invitational (9/28) with a 66. The senior had three second-place results beginning at the Northwood Invitational (10/6-7) where he tied-for-second with a 216 (70, 73, 73). Seys shot a 144 (72, 72) to finish second at the WSU Motor City Invitational (10/13-14) and finished second at the Davenport Panther Invitational (10/19-20) with a 138 (70, 68). His worst finish was a fourth-place result at the GVSU Don Underwood Invitational (9/9-10) with a 215 (71, 74, 70).
