Katona Sets University Record
Hailey Katona’s impressive year continued this week as the Tilbury golfer broke a Mercer University record.
Katona shot a 65, 7-under par round at the Johnie Toms Invitational this week breaking her school record for a low round.
“Major accomplishments today for our program with Hailey firing a record 65 and the team recording a 12 under par single round,” said Head Coach Michele Drinkard.
“We knew we were getting closer to putting our scoring together as a team. Paying more attention to the details allowed us to that, in record fashion. This is the best group of athletes our program has put together and I like where we are heading. Look out for these Bears.”
Overall she finished 4th in the tournament shooting rounds of 73 and 74 prior to her stunning 65. Her Mercer Bears also set a school record for a team low shooting 12-under.
This summer Katona won the Alberta Provincial Championship and the Ontario Women’s Match Play title.
