Chatham Ringette Roundup – Thunder Keep Rumbling

The Boston Pizza U12 Regional Chatham Thunder Ringette team secured 1st place in Western Region League play over the weekend. The team went undefeated in their last 5 games with 4 wins and 1 tie.

The Chatham Thunder team defeated Mitchell Black 9-4, Goderich 11-1, Mitchell White 10-1 and St Mary’s 4-1 to secure 1st place.They also earned a 6-6 tie against Tillsonburg on Sunday. The U12 team outscored their opponents 40-13. Olivia Eskritt was the winning goalie for the Thunder in each game.

Abbie Chandler led the Thunder with 8 goals and 8 assists Chantelle Legere added 7 goals and 4 assists, Rachel Carlton had 5 goals and 2 assists and Regan Owen, Emily Raaymakers, Evelyn McKay-Barr, Rachel Benn, Alison Stephens and Sorcha Rountree all added 3 goals apiece. Niyah Poole popped in two and Emily Anderson had three assists.

The U12 Thunder will wrap up their season at the Regional Tournament at the end of March.

The Cement Man Chatham Thunder U10 had a busy weekend. On Saturday the Thunder made up a double header in Forest before welcoming Forest to Chatham for the second doubleheader Sunday. Here is a summary of the games.

Game 1, 6-2 for the Chatham Thunder

First Period

Courtney Legere opened the scoring for Chatham unassisted. Camille Blain followed up with her own unassisted goal. Lydia Harron would score next assisted by Emilie Newman. Harron would score once more unassisted in the first period. Forest Blue would answer with two goals in Period 1.

Second Period

Natasha Anderson pocketed a nice goal assisted by Leah Thompson early in the period. Erica Anderson would round out the scoring with a final marker midway through the period

Game 2, 8-0 for the Chatham Thunder

First Period

All goals in the firs period were recorded as unassisted, with goals going to Harron, Legere, Thompson, Ireland DaSilva, Legere, Newman, Blain, and Delaney George. No goals were scored in the second period.

Game 3, 7-0 for the Chatham Thunder

First Period

Camille Blain opened the scoring with an assist from Legere. Three other goals came from Legere, assisted by Natasha Anderson, DaSilva from Legere, and DaSilva from George.

Second Period

Legere scored late in the second period assisted by Newman. Harron also scored from Natasha Anderson, while Legere rounded out the scoring from Newman.

Game 4, 7-1 for the Chatham Thunder

First Period

Natasha Anderson would open the scoring assisted by Courtney Legere. Legere would follow up her assist by scoring two unassisted goals, and her third goal of the period assisted by Erica Anderson.

Second Period

Natasha Anderson had the first marker of the period assisted by Legere and Newman. Legere scored next assisted by Erica Anderson. The final goal of the game came from Delaney George.

Chatham will face Dorchester next weekend for our last regular season game. Chatham now leads the Western region with 9 wins with no losses or ties.
