Feasey’s Late Penalty Shot Lifts Maroons

The Strathroy Rockets tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Chatham Maroons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Chatham took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Strathroy storm back on a Wes Baker goal 3:56 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Maroons were led by Brennan Feasey, who finished with one goal and one assist. Feasey scored 19:56 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Chatham.

The Rockets were unable to stop Chatham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Maroons eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Chatham’s power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on nine chances.

Chatham also got a goal from Eric Palazzolo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Michael Verboom, Sean Myers, and Blake Blondeel, who each chipped in one.

Strathroy stifled the Maroons’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Stuart King also scored for Strathroy. More assists for Strathroy came via Tyler Duarte and Dalen Kuchmey, who contributed one a piece.

Darien Ekblad made 27 saves for Chatham on 29 shots. The Maroons incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Kuchmey recorded 36 saves for the Rockets. Strathroy incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
