A full night of high school soccer took place Tuesday starting as the Wallaceburg Tartans men’s team hosted the Tilbury Titans.

The Tartan were hoping to continue their winning streak from Monday night’s game, where they shut out the Chatham Christian school 3-0.

Wallaceburg took an early lead over Tilbury as Brayden Fischer found the back of the net for the Tartans.

Wallaceburg continued their strong force as Fischer tipped in his second goal of the game putting the Tartans up 2-0.

The Tartans dominating performance didn’t end there as Fischer, Garth Denys, Anthony Vandeveene and Marc Kellett netted four more goals for the Tartans, putting them up 6-0 at the end of the first half.

Wallaceburg increased their lead to 7-0 when Casey McGee scored his first goal of the game. Trent Reaume also added a goal for the Tartans.

The Tartans took an 8-0 win over Tilbury. Robert Griffioen and Brendan Johnston earned the shutout for the Tartans.

Wallaceburg’s coach, Drew Sydorko says he wouldn’t change anything about Tuesday’s game. “I wouldn’t change anything about our game,” says Sydorko. “The boys played really well and we had an opportunity to move different players into different positions, and try it out.”

Both the Tartans men’s and women’s will travel to Chatham on Thursday to take on the second place CKSS Golden Hawks.

Sydorko says Tuesday’s game was a great way for his team to prepare to take on the Hawks. “This game has prepared us for Thursday,” says Sydorko. “It gave some of the boys that haven’t played in the back a chance to prepare.”

Thursday’s game is schedule to start at 3:30 in Chatham.

In other soccer news, those very CKSS Golden Hawks who Wallaceburg will face Thursday took down the Lambton-Kent Cardinals in a 7-0 victory. Brad Hockin scored twice for CKSS, while the Golden Hawks also got goals from Dede Cato, Jake Fancy, Ian Smart, Trevor Niven, and Kolby Sarson.

In girls action, the CKSS Golden Hawks shut out Lambton-Kent 5-0.

The WDSS girls also played Tilbury, defeating the Titans 9-0. Amanda Kellett, Abbey Broad, and Alyssa Lucier each scored twice, while Clancy Cavanagh, Scotia Nutt, and Shaylyan Richard scored singles for the Tartans.
