The Wallaceburg Sting men’s soccer team recently capped off a historic season with a league championship, promotion to the Premier League of the Western Ontario Soccer League and winning the First Division scoring title.

The Sting wrapped up a memorable year in the First Division of the WOSL with a 2-1 win over London America in a very intense game to clinch a promotion to the Premier League for next season. Goals were scored by Trent Reaume and Casey McGee.

Wallaceburg followed up that feat with a 5-1 victory over London Croatia to win the First Division league championship. The league final saw four more goals from Casey McGee, who had local soccer fans in awe all season long. McGee won the scoring title for the First Division.

The Sting also won the First Division Cup with a 3-2 win over London America, becoming back to back winners, after accomplishing the same feat in 2015. Additionally, Wallaceburg advanced to the semi finals of the League Cup, a tournament including all 50 teams in the league, eventually bowing out to London Jagelonnia by a 2-0 final.

2016 was the most successful season in Sting history. No other team has won the League Cup, First Division championship and taken the scoring title.
