Brett Brochu Sets OHL Record For Wins By A Rookie

Brett Brochu set a new OHL record for wins by a rookie netminder with his 32nd win of the season this weekend.

Brochu was named first star for his London Knights, stopping 24 shots in a 3-1 over Oshawa.

The Tilbury, Ontario product broke the record held by John Vanbiesbrouck and Andrew Loverock.

Vanbiesbrouck went on to play 19 seasons in the NHL and win a Vezina Trophy as the NHL’s top goalie.

Brochu currently has the best goals against average in the OHL at 2.40 GAA, and is the back-to-back reigning OHL Goaltender of the Month from February and January.

He currently sits with a 32-6-0-0 record, with a 0.919 save percentage.

Brochu is an alumni of the Dresden Kings and Chatham-Kent Cyclones.
